Russell Brand poses by gay-themed mural, tweets in support of homeless LGBTI youth

Actor Russell Brand reached out to his more than 10 million Twitter followers on Tuesday (23 June) to raise money for homeless gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youth.

Brand tweeted a photo of himself posing in front of a mural of two men kissing with this message: Unlikely though it may seem, given my outfit – RTing this helps gays. Homeless charity gets a quid.

The charity is the Hetrick-Martin Institute for LGBTI youth which will receive $1 from for every tweet with the hashtag . In the UK, the money goes to Pilion Trust.

Hetrick Martin is the US’s oldest and largest LGBTI youth organization and the home of  Harvey Milk High School.
