One of the UK’s most high-profile LGBTI politicians, Ruth Davidson SMP, has given birth.
Davidson, 39, announced she was pregnant via IVF treatment. Today, she tweeted a photo of herself with her partner, Jen Wilson, and their new arrival.
Baby Finn was born this morning at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.
The accompanying comment said: ‘Welcome to the world, little one. Finn Paul Davidson, born today, 10lb 1.5oz. Know that you are loved. X’

Sturgeon tweets her congratulations
Davidson and Miller have been together since 2014. They announced their engagement in 2016 but have yet to marry.
Davidson, who leads the Scottish Conservative Party, took maternity leave last month but plans to return to work in the spring.
Earlier this year, Time magazine listed her as one of the 100 most influential people in the world.
Among the many wishing Davidson and her family well is Nicola Sturgeon, leader of the Scottish National Party. The two politicians have frequently clashed in debates in the Scottish Parliament.
‘Many congratulations to you both. I wish wee Finn a lifetime of happiness,’ messaged Sturgeon.
