‘I’m woke,’ the cast members of NBC’s Saturday Night Live claim. ‘So… why aren’t my jeans?’ Now they are, with Levi’s Wokes.
The skit aired during SNL’s 42nd season premiere on Saturday (30 September). Host Ryan Gosling joined the cast in a satirical black and white commercial for the new gender-neutral clothing style.
The pants are ‘sizeless, style-neutral, gender non-conforming denim’ for a ‘generation that defies labels’.
So what colors do they come in?
‘I’m triggered,’ Gosling cries at the mention of colors.
The pants only come in the color #greb.
‘They not brown, but they not not brown,’ says new cast member Chris Redd.
Even more, pockets are sold separately and each pair has a 180-degree uni-fly. Finally, they’re not made in Indonesia, they’re made right here in the USA — ‘by white kids’.
‘What’s my size?’ Leslie Jones says. ‘Why don’t you ask me about my accomplishments?’
Here’s the zinger: Wokes are only available at Ross.
What’s especially funny about this skit is that last year Levi’s really did launch a gender-neutral line. Luckily, that line is definitely a lot more stylish than the Wokes.
