Sam Smith has admitted that he’s never had a boyfriend.
The 23-year-old British singer has opened up about his dating life in an interview during the press tour for Spectre.
‘I’ve never had a boyfriend so I don’t really know any different, which I think is very lucky actually. I’m still learning on what’s right and what’s normal in dates,’ he said.
‘I think with anyone, you have to learn how to trust people and there’s different challenges and hurdles in my life now but I’m trying to remain as normal as I was before.’
Asked if he was ready for a relationship, Sam said: ‘Is anyone ready for a relationship? Who knows? I’ve been single for 23 years so I don’t know. It’s going to take something.’
He was previously linked to dancer Jonathan Ziezel, but a relationship was never confirmed. He only ever referred to him as ‘someone he was seeing’, and stopped seeing him around January of this year.
Sam caused controversy among his gay fans last year when he said they should ‘delete Grindr as it’s ruining romance’.
And when he came out, he said he debut album In The Lonely Hour was written about his unrequited love for another man.
