Brazil Ecojourneys, a lesbian-owned tour operator, will put on South America’s first ‘Lesbian Surf Camp’ later this year.
The girls-only sporting event will take place in and around Florianopolis across five days between 9-16 May.
It is open to surfers of all levels, including beginners.
Organiser Marta Dalla Chiesa told Edge Media Network: ‘I surf all the time and I’m usually the only lesbian out there, surrounded by heterosexual men. I saw how there really aren’t many opportunities for gay women to get together and learn to surf in a friendly environment.’
She added: ‘We are presenting a whole week of events, from surf clinics to a surf ‘safari’, yoga sessions and whole lot of socializing. We plan to have a night out in Florianopolis on arrival, and a special dinner at a restaurant run by a lesbian chef in Praia do Rosa.’
Lesbian Surf Camp follows the success of Brazil Ecojourneys mixed LGBT surf camp last year.
The deadline for registration is 27 March. For more information, visit the official Brazil Ecojourneys website by clicking here; for the week’s full itinerary, visit the GaySurfBrazil blog by clicking here.
