Saturday Night Live pokes fun at the Sochi Olympics with a Billie Jean King skit

Saturday Night Live took time to notice the US delegation that will be at the Sochi Winter Games this February.

A segment of the show’s Weekend Update included comic Kate McKinnon impersonating a very excited Billie Jean King.

The winner of 39 Grand Slam tennis titles was picked by President Barack Obama to represent the US at Sochi Olympics. An athlete and a lesbian! Pretty good message for a country with ‘gay propaganda’ laws.

‘I’m President Obama’s big gay middle finger and this bird is about to be flipped,’ McKinnon’s King says.

The skit goes on from there, with a promise to drive a Subaru through Red Square with Melissa Etheridge blasting. Oh, those lesbians with their sensible cars and Etheridge cassettes.

And 70-year-old lesbians are known for their toughness.

‘All I need to survive is a clean canteen and a sweater,’ McKinnon notes.

Of course a tennis great had to remind about the beauty of her sport.

‘The primal grunting of two she beasts, with arms like the masts of a pirate ship.’

GSN loves King, McKinnon, and all things that mock Russia’s anti-gay laws. Check out the video below. Wait for the end. You’ll love the the shout out to tennis legend Martina Navratilova and the cast of the comedy-drama Orange is the New Black.
