Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson sparks debate with gay out of office message

Ruth Davidson is gay and the leader of the Scottish Conservatives

When you’re going on holiday, many of us can’t wait until we can finally turn on the out of office message and get out of there.

But for Scotland’s Conservative leader Ruth Davidson, it appears she might have some work to do when she gets back from her time off.

With her out of office message, Davidson tweeted a picture of Gillian Anderson wearing a sexy outfit.

She said: ‘Right, I’m off for a fortnight. In the mean time, here’s Gillian Anderson just sitting round the house in stilettos & seamed stockings. As you do.’

Political correspondent for Channel 4 News Michael Crick was one of the first to criticize Davidson.

‘Blimey,’ he said. ‘This from the woman many Tories would like to see replace Theresa May.’

Other Twitter users agreed, claiming Davidson was ‘objectifying women’.

But others seemed to enjoy it.
