Last summer, the truly adorable animated short film In a Heartbeat took the internet by storm.
It received tons of attention and charmed everyone who watched it.
Now, GLAAD is honoring the film for their Media Awards. The organization named the short film as its Special Recognition.
Beth David and Esteban Bravo created the four-minute film. It follows Sherwin and his heart following his crush, Jason, around their school.
The two began working on the film as a senior thesis at Ringling College of Art and Design. They created a Kickstarter for it, asking for $3,000. When all was said and done, they earned an astonishing $14,000.
Jay-Z also nominated
GLAAD is also honoring Jay-Z’s song Smile, featuring his mother, Gloria Carter, with a Special Recognition.
In the song, on his most recent album 4:44, he reveals his mother is a lesbian.
In the track, he raps: ‘Momma had 4 kids but she’s a lesbian/had to pretend so long that she’s a thesbian/Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate.
‘Society shame and the pain was too much to take/Cried tears of joy when you fell in love/Don’t matter to me if it’s a him or her.’
The 29th Annual GLAAD Media Awards will take place 12 April in Los Angeles and again on 5 May in New York.
