UPDATE: Sinead O’Connor found safe
Bisexual singer Sinead O’Connor has been reported missing in Wilmette, Illinois.
Police say O’Connor did not return after going out for a bike ride early Sunday (15 May) after leaving to go on a bike ride early Sunday morning.
‘The Wilmette Police is seeking to check the well-being of Sinead O’Connor,’ Wilmette Police Sgt. Michael Robinson said in a statement.
‘O’Connor reportedly left the Wilmette area for a bicycle ride yesterday at 6:00 AM and has not returned. A caller has expressed concern for her well-being and no other information is available at this time.’
O’Connor, 49, has released 10 albums during her career but has often been in the headlines for reasons other than music.
Last November, O’Connor indicated in a social media post that she might harm herself. She did not.
And most recently she publicly accused talk show host Arsenio Hall of supplying drugs to Prince for decades and also drugging her. Hall has since filed a $5 million defamation lawsuit.
The lawsuit calls her a ‘desperate, attention seeker’ who ‘maliciously published outlandish defamatory lies.’
O’Connor has been married four times, has four children and became a grandmother for the first time last November.
She had once described herself as ‘a dyke’ but then in the May 2005 issue of Entertainment Weekly, she described herself this way: ‘I’m three-quarters heterosexual, a quarter gay. I lean a bit more towards the hairy blokes.’
