In an interview with Rolling Stone published on Tuesday (26 March), Game of Thrones actor Sophie Turner revealed she’s ‘experimented’.
Rolling Stone interviewed both Turner and her co-star Maisie Williams. HBO’s hit epic fantasy series Game of Thrones is coming to an end after its final season this spring.
In the interview, Turner spoke of fiancé Joe Jonas. The couple began dating in November 2016 before announcing their engagement in October 2016 on Instagram. Turner is now often seen on Jonas’ Instagram, as well as sister-in-law Priyanka Chopra’s (who’s married to Nick Jonas).
Turner, however, didn’t think this would always be the case.
‘I was fully preparing myself to be single for the rest of my life,’ Turner, 23, told Rolling Stone. ‘I think once you’ve found the right person, you just know.’
She continued, explaining she feels like a ‘much older a soul than I am in age’ and that she’s known enough guys and girls in life to know.
That’s when she commented on her own sexuality and life experiences.
‘Everyone experiments,’ she said. ‘It’s part of growing up. I love a soul, not a gender.’
Previous support (and criticism)
In 2017, she garnered both support and criticism for a since-deleted Instagram post featuring a pun about pansexuality.
Turner later clarified she wasn’t coming out, but was nonetheless ‘overwhelmed by all the love and support’.
She further wrote: ‘In a time when there feels like there is a such a divide, it’s so important that we support each other through things like this. But in all honesty, no matter what my (or anyone else’s) sexual orientation, we shouldn’t feel like we have to “come out” at all, it shouldn’t even be a thing.’
She also previously expressed support for her Game of Thrones character Sansa Stark being with a woman.
Turner will next be seen in the Game of Thrones final season and the X-Men movie Dark Phoenix, out on 7 June.
