If you’re looking for a way to combine your love of health and fitness with a bit of gay travel, then Sports Island should probably be on your short-list of gay vacation destinations for 2018.

Taking over the island of Lanzarote, in the Canary Islands, from 2–9 September 2018, Sports Island brings together the LGBTI community and their friends for a unique combination of sport training, nutrition, exercise, fitness, relaxation, and fun.

Hosting all of the action is Club La Santa – a luxurious combination of high-end resort accommodation and state of the art sport and fitness facilities.

The program has been designed by Philippe De Wulf, former member of the Belgian national swimming team, together with LGBTI travel specialist Frederick Boutry.

‘Gay and lesbian people love to travel, meet people and discover new destinations, especially when it’s gay-friendly…’ explains Boutry. ‘We like to be able to be ourselves in an open-minded atmosphere. Our community has developed a well-deserved reputation for festivals, parties, and cruises, and they’re all still a great way to have fun. But it’s time for an alternative, an LGBTI travel experience where you can focus more on your own well-being.’

‘Sports Island is an experience that will work well for single people who want to make friends, couples who want an active vacation, or groups of friends and teammates who want to train together…’ adds De Wulf. ‘Our program includes 40 sports activities – including cycling, fitness, swimming, tennis, racket sports, yoga, ball sports, kayak, surfing, and golf. We’ll have professional coaches on-hand to help everyone get the most out of the experience.’

Further details available via the Sports Island website.
