Sticking with your New Year’s Resolutions in January could save you £400 towards your next holiday

Are you sticking to your New Year’s Resolutions? If you do feel yourself flailing, print this article off and stick it on your fridge…

Giving up alcohol, takeaways and cigarettes for the month of January could save you £417 towards your next holiday, according to new research.

The findings by www.Cheapflights.co.uk show that this one-month ‘sin saving’ could foot the bill for a four-star, all-inclusive holiday in the Canaries in May, or a week’s full board ski chalet in France – while also making you much, much healthier!

Nine in 10 respondents also told the leading flight price comparison website that they were still on track with their resolutions in week two of 2015, with 61% likely to stick to them until the end of January or longer.

Takeaways are apparently the public’s number one resolution – costing the average person £109 a month.

Meanwhile a 20-a-day smoker could save up to £2,900 a year, or £242 a month – enough for a seven-night stay at the beachfront Ada Beach Hotel near Kyrenia, which starts from £219 per person, departing February 2015, according to Cheap Flights.

Meanwhile, giving up alcohol for the whole year could save you £792; giving up soft drinks could save you a further £420.
