Have you ever wondered whether beer goggles has an effect on your sexuality? Well, for straight guys at least, it turns out it does.

A new study has found alcohol can make a guy, otherwise straight, a little more fluid than if they were sober.

Published in the Journal of Social Psychology, the study approached a total of 83 straight male and female adults in a town in the Midwest.

Approached by researchers, they were asked to complete a survey on how many alcoholic drinks they had consumed during the evening.

Shown a 40 second clip of an attractive guy or woman drinking at a bar, they were asked how willing they would be perform various sexual acts with the person.

It ranged from buying them a drink, to taking them home for sex.

For women, their sexual interest got bigger for both men and women as they drank more. If they were sober, they’d have low interest in both the guy and the woman. But if they consumed they’d more alcohol, they would get more sexually interested in both genders.

For men, they were equally willing to have sex with the attractive woman no matter how little or how much they had to drink.

But the more guys drank, the more interested they became in the attractive guy.

While guys who had nothing to drink reported next to no interest in having sex with a man, guys who said they’d had more than 10 drinks expressed almost as much as interest in the man as they did the woman.

Why? Alcohol reduces our anxieties and inhibitions, and leaves us more likely to experiment.

As a GMFA spokesperson says: ‘Getting really drunk can put you in situations where you have less or no control. This can lead you to have unsafe sex and potentially put you or your partners at risk of STIs or HIV.’
