Taiwan International Queer Film Festival expands on screens and online

Taiwan Queer International Film Festival

The third Taiwan International Queer Film Festival (TIQFF) will be held in Taipei this year from 22 October to 30 October and promises to be bigger than before.

TIQFF will once again bring the best LGBTI films from around the world to movie screens and audiences in Taiwan, including several Teddy Award winners from the Berlin International Film Festival.

The theme of this year’s festival is Let’s Connect and will consist of film screenings, several panel discussions and the first ever Queermosa Awards.

TIQFF told Gay Star News: ‘We are also very proud to host Taiwan’s first Queermosa Awards where LGBTI/human rights activists, public figures and media correspondents are rewarded with a Queermosa Award for their bravery, vision and endless support of Taiwan’s LGBTI community.’

‘With their voices heard by thousands of followers and supporters, LGBTI rights are no longer just social issues concerning a limited group of people, LGBTI rights are human rights and are social issues deserving attention from every member of society.’

The award ceremony will take place on 28 October, one day before Taipei Pride.

TIQFF also announced the launch of its online streaming service GagaooLala where subscribers will have access to thousands of LGBTI films and shorts that can be accessed from anywhere in the world.

The special guests at this year’s film festival will include:

Ella 陳嘉樺 – originally from girl group S.H.E, will feature as festival ambassador
