Taiwan musician Enno Cheng announces divorce, comes out as lesbian

Taiwanese musician and actress Enno Cheng has announced her divorce and come out as lesbian in a Facebook post that has been shared nearly 90,000 times.

Cheng said she ended her 2013 marriage to Fire Extinguishers bandmate Sam Yang late last year, but they remain each other’s ‘most important life partners.’

‘In the nine years that I have known Sam, I have always loved him deeply. Sam has a great heart, and has shown me unconditional understanding and tolerance, and this has not changed until today,’ she wrote.

‘The fact is I cannot love his body. This is not his fault, but is because I like women’s bodies.’

Cheng explained that her sexual orientation had been ‘blurry’ since a young age. She said she had always been attracted to girls with both feminine and boyish qualities. But because they were rare in Taiwanese society, she had no way to confirm what she wanted.

Yang said he would continue to love and support Cheng in his own Facebook post, in which he recall his marriage vow to ‘forever uphold Enno’s right to be herself.’
