Mother Ru once said ‘flats are for quitters’, but we’d have to disagree.

With even stiletto aficionado Victoria Beckham opting for flats in recent years, it’s safe to say a new generation of women (and men, and everyone in between) are embracing fresher, comfier styles of footwear that still look great.

Step forward the new Allegro range from trailblazing footwear brand FitFlop, which turns the generally held belief that ballerina flat are uncomfortable on its heel.

While the traditional ballet pump offers little to no support, this collection features FitFlop’s own Dynamicush technology.

Here comes the science

What makes the Allegros so comfortable? Well, the midsole offers enhanced cushioning under the toe, minimize impact, and an anatomically contoured flexible footbed to support the arch of the foot.

Meanwhile, slip-resistant rubber outsoles and soft upper leather up the comfy quota.

The range, priced from $100 (£75, €84.56), comes in an array of stylish, neutral tones from blush pink to artisan gold.
