Demi Lovato to offer fans free therapy sessions before her concerts

Demi Lovato speaks regularly about her journey to sobriety and struggles with mental health

American singer Demi Lovato announced she will be offering free group therapy sessions to her fans.

The sessions will take place before her concerts on tour.

Lovato announced on Good Morning America she felt it is important she uses her ‘voice for more than just singing.’

She also explained: ‘I think it’s really important to take away the stigma of mental illness.

‘I actually have bipolar disorder and I’m very open about that, because I think that mental health affects so many people and we need to take the stigma away from it.’

CAST Centers will be running the sessions. CAST is a treatment centre and wellness program that Lovato co-owns.

Mike Bayer is the Founder, CEO and a good friend of Lovato’s.

Her helped Lovato with her recovery from alcohol and drug addiction when she was a patient at the center.

He added: ‘It’s been such a journey watching Demi go from being a patient to advocate, to now an owner. It makes me so happy to see her joining group over CAST and mentoring other women when she doesn’t have to.’

CAST Centers joined Lovato on her 2016 tour with Nick Jonas, Future Now.

Lovato explained she felt it important to offer therapy sessions to her fans again.

She said: ‘I’ve actually met people that go to CAST because they went to CAST on tour and realized they needed to get sober or they needed to better themselves in some other way. It’s changed lives. I wanna be able to do that again.’

Fans can register for the session online after purchasing their concert ticket.

Lovato came out in her documentary last year. She explained to viewers she is ‘open to dating men and women.’
