This Democrat quoted RPDR’s Monique Heart to make a point about fact checking

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has once again made her love for RuPaul’s Drag Race clear by quoting Monique Heart.

The 29-year-old Democrat has over 2 million Twitter followers. She is often praised for her honest and direct way of communicating about important issues.

The newly-sworn in political figure has previously revealed herself to be a Valentina stan.

‘We should care about getting things right’

In a tweet about fact checking, she said: ‘Facts are facts, America.

‘We should care about getting things right. Yet standards of who gets fact-checked, how often + why are unclear.’

She furthermore added: ‘This is where false equivalency+bias creeps in, allowing climate deniers to be put on par w/scientists, for example.’

Ocasio-Cortez later clarified that her statement was in part inspired by RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 4 queen Monique Heart.

She added: ‘Also: credit for “facts are facts, America” goes to the illustrious queen Monique Hart).’

Ocasio-Cortez was defending herself after The Washington Post published an article about her implying she’d misled followers over a Tweet about Pentagon spending.

Monique later retweeted the politician, saying: ‘America, Miss Ocasio-Cortez has spoken!’

She furthermore added: ‘Make sure you support this beautiful and amazing icon. Love you and I am so gooped that you quoted me. Thank you
