This zoo will name a cockroach after your ex for Valentine’s Day

A zoo in the UK has decided to help those unlucky in love get over their broken and will name a cockroach after their ex for a small price.

For £1.50 ($1.96) the Hemsley Conservation Centre in Kent, in southern England, will let people christen the insect in honor of their past loves. People can either name a cockroach after their ex or do it on behalf of a friend.

‘For those that don’t quite require revenge, there’s another way to make you feel better about getting back at your ex this Valentine’s Day,’ the Centre wrote on its website.

The small donation buys you the chance to not only name a cockroach, but also comes with a certificate and your ex’s name will appear on the ‘roach board’ at the zoo.

‘We are highlighting these creatures through our ‘name a cockroach programme’ (we think adopt is a little too strong, after all – you probably don’t want to adopt your friend’s ex) to raise money for our projects at the zoo,’ the Centre wrote.

Social media users have quickly embraced the initiative, with many wanting to name their roaches after US President Donald Trump.

‘Support conservation, have some fun… Yes please!’ one Facebook user wrote.

‘This is the most romantic thing I’ve ever seen,’ wrote another.

Erika Douglass on Facebook added: ‘And *that* is how all the cockroaches at the Hemsley Conservation Centre were named “Trump”.’

People who have named a cockroach after their ex can take the certificate to the zoo to get half price entry between 14 and 21 February.
