The 24-year-old woman who went missing after a Tinder date with a woman has been found dead, according to her family.
Syndey Loofe from the Midwestern U.S. state of Nebraska went missing three weeks ago.
Now on her family’s Facebook page raising awareness about her disappearance, a ‘tragic update’ has been shared. It announces Loofe’s body was found.
‘It’s with heavy hearts that we share this most recent update with you all. Please continue to pray for Sydney and our entire family. May God grant eternal rest unto thee. We love you Sydney.’
The local county sheriff’s office also confirms the news, but say no further details are known at this time. They add: ‘Our thoughts and prayers are with the Loofe family.’
Randy Thysse, special agent in charge of the Omaha division of the FBI says in a press conference:
‘On behalf of the FBI, we extend our deepest heartfelt condolences to Sydney’s parents, George and Susie, her brother and sister, her friends, an all that were very fortunate enough to know her.’
Confirming that though the investigators believe the body belongs to Loofe, a positive identification will come after the autopsy.
They have not released what they believe happened to the young Nebraskan, but say:
‘We are indeed conducting a very thorough investigation to ensure we can provide an accurate account of what happened to Sydney. We ask for your patience.’
But Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister credits the discovery of the body to the ‘analysis of digital evidence’ meeting up with ‘putting people on the ground.’
Speaking to a reporter about evidence found at the scene, Bliemeister says, “We do believe that there is evidence of foul play.’
What happened to Syndey Loofe?
Loofe family last heard from her on 15 November, according to the Huff Post.
She was heading out on a second date with a woman she’d met on Tinder.
Loofe’s date, 23-year-old Bailey Boswell, admits she was with Loofe in the hours before she went missing.
After her disappearance, her date was arrested, but in an unrelated drug charge.
Loofe’s roommate 51-year-old Aubrey Trail, was also facing charges unrelated to Loofe’s disappearance. The authorities say Trail faces a charge of possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
But prior to their arrests, Trail was posting several bizarre videos online. Trail use the videos to deny reports about their possible involvement in Loofe’s disappearance.
‘I’ve never killed anyone in my life and I’ve never hurt a female in my life, so take that for whatever the hell that’s worth’
Trail and Boswell are ‘persons of interest’ in the case, but neither face charges in the disappearance.
