Iconic artists Tom of Finland now has his own emoji.
It is part of a set of new, custom emojis Finland released on 6 February, to mark Sámi National Day.
The Sámi, more commonly known as Lapplanders in English, are the native people of Finland who live in the Arctic area.
But rather than showing the man himself, Finland’s Ministry for Foreign Affairs decided on a much more iconic Tom of Finland-motif: a leather daddy.
Complete with leather cap and jacket, aviators and moustache, he comes alongside an adorable seal, the Northern Lights, and a whole lot of Finnish customs you can’t properly translate into other languages.
Tom of Finland was included in the release because of his ‘significant contribution to the advancement of human rights, advocating for tolerance, respect and freedom.’
Finland is the first country in the world to release its own, nation-themed set of emojis.
To get them, all you need to do is visit the This Is Finland emoji site, select whether you need the Apple- or Google Store, and you’re good to go.
And if you don’t have a phone, or want to use them elsewhere, you can also simply download them as pictures – either the whole lot, or just Tom.
