A brand new trailer for the biopic Tom of Finland is here — and it’s the longest and most erotic look yet.
The Finnish film is a drama based on the life of homoerotic artist Touko Valio Laaksonen aka Tom of Finland. It’s also the country’s submission for Best Foreign Language Film for the 2018 Oscars.
After serving in World War II, Laaksonen made a name for himself as an artist. His main subjects were homoerotic, masculine men, often leather-clad.
The trailer shows both the danger of this lifestyle — a piece of art being a ‘nuclear bomb’ — as well as the inspiring community.
When Laaksonen made the move to America, he found a whole group of men who loved and admired his work.
This new look at the film is all at once stirring, dramatic, and full of very sexy, muscular men in tiny shorts and lots of leather.
Dome Karukoski directed the film based on a script by Aleksi Bardy. Pekka Strang stars as Tom of Finland.
So far, Tom of Finland boasts an impressive 95% on Rotten Tomatoes. One review calls it ‘as handsome and glossy as the drawings of luxuriantly leather-clad fantasy figures with which he made his name’.
