Amazon is investigating claims Jeffrey Tambor sexually harassed his former assistant.
Van Barnes, a trans woman, worked as the Transparent star’s assistant briefly on the show.
In claims made online in a private Facebook post, she accused the Emmy and Golden Globe of ‘inappropriate behavior’.
There is no evidence the inappropriate behavior ever took place.
Jeffrey Tambor ‘adamantly and vehemently’ denied the claims
Tambor has ‘adamantly and vehemently’ denied the claims and called the allegations ‘baseless’.
He said in a statement: ‘I am aware that a former disgruntled assistant of mine has made a private post implying that I had acted in an improper manner towards her.
‘I adamantly and vehemently reject and deny any and all implication and allegation that I have ever engaged in any improper behavior toward this person or any other person I have ever worked with.
‘I am appalled and distressed by this baseless allegation.’
Amazon launches full investigation
Amazon has launched a full investigation into the claims. It comes after Amazon Studios head Roy Price quit after sexual harassment allegations were revealed. A close personal friend of Harvey Weinstein, Price was also a producer on Transparent.
Jil Soloway said the entire Transparent team is aiding the investigation.
‘Anything that would diminish the level of respect, safety and inclusion so fundamental to our workplace is completely antithetical to our principles,’ Soloway said in a statement today.
‘We are cooperating with the investigation into this matter.’
