This Twitter thread of women in suits fills my androgynous-loving heart

The women of Marvel pose for a photo, including Tessa Thompson in a suit.

Here’s a not-so-secret confession: I love women in suits.

There’s a reason, after all, that Katharine Hepburn is one of my queer icons. She helped inspired me to be a more confident, authentic version of my queer self.

So when I saw there was a Twitter Moments thread of women in suits, my week was made (not an exaggeration).

It all started yesterday (28 November) afternoon, when Inkoo Kangst tweeted a photo of the Marvel women from their Vanity Fair shoot.

She tweeted: ‘Tessa Thompson’s boxy plaid is my new lewk.’

Then she asked people to reply with pictures of women in suits. And oh boy, Twitter did not disappoint.

1.

Kangst kicked things off herself, tweeting several photos of queen of the suit look: Janelle Monáe.

2.

Then came Blake Lively’s recent outing in a tweet suit, complete with a long coat. I remember this day well — my heart fluttered a lot, let me tell you.

3.

And who could ever forget Céline? No one, that’s who.

4.

Or Zendaya.

5.

Evan Rachel Wood has also long been one for rocking the suit.

6.

And someone who always gets my heart racing, Kristen Stewart.

7.

Angela Bassett, who will soon be serving all sorts of looks in Black Panther.

8.

How about we go further back? Marlene Dietrich was known for slaying the androgynous look during Hollywood’s golden age.

9.

And I’d be remiss not to point out people’s inclusion of Hepburn, of course.

10.

But it started long before Hollywood. Vesta Tilley, born in the 1860s, was a famous male impersonator.

11.

There’s Rachel Weisz, rocking the polka dots.

12.

Emma Watson, of course.

13.

Alexandra Shipp, killing it in green.

14.

And finally, Sigourney Weaver.

This thread also brought my attention to the greatest hashtag of all time: #ladysuitwatch. How has this not been in my life until now?

Just look at this queen — she will always be a major crush.

And Cara Delevingne is known for rocking this look in a variety of ways.

So go forth and enjoy, because this is the greatest thing on Twitter this week.
