UK man assaulted at pub with baseball bat in anti-gay attack

A British man was brutally attacked by a baseball bat in a homophobic attack.

East Surrey Police are appealing for information following the assault in Horley on 11 March outside the Air Balloon pub.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was shouted at with an anti-gay slur before he hit in the back with the baseball bat.

Luckily, he did not require treatment for the injuries.

Investigating officer PC Dave Johns, said: ‘I would appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the assault to contact us with information as we urgently need to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident.

‘Incidents of this nature are deeply upsetting for victims and we will do all we can to find the offender.’

The offender is described as a white man, aged between 20 and 25 years old, of slim build, around 5ft 8ins in height and with short brown hair.

He was driving a blue car that he left the scene in the direction of Crawley.
