Theresa May has said she hasn’t ‘caught up’ on RuPaul’s Drag Race.
The UK Prime Minister has admitted she’s not exactly a fan girl of the US reality TV drag competition.
May tweeted: ‘Must admit I haven’t had a chance to catch up on @RuPaulsDragRace, but wishing Ben all the best in raising money for a great cause @SandsUK.’
The Ben she refers to Ben Tye, who is otherwise known as drag queen Amber Dextris.
The 22-year-old received a letter from 10 Downing Street after making the final of the first ever UK charity drag pageant Miss Drag UK.
She sent a letter and a signed photo.
Tye told the Daily Gazette: ‘She wished me luck with the fundraising and the pageant.’
The letter and photo was featured on the Miss Drag UK Facebook page.
The organization joked: ‘Even the PM knows about Miss Drag UK, don’t forget to buy your tickets.’
Sands UK is a stillbirth and neonatal death charity.
He has to fundraise as part of the competition, as well as showcase a high fashion look and an evening gown look.
Funds raised will go to the stillbirth and neonatal death charity.
Tye has already raised over £200 on his GoFundMe.
RuPaul’s Drag Race season 11 begins on VH1 today (28 February).
Aquaria drags Theresa May
Season 10 winner Aquaria responded to May’s tweet.
May has voted against LGBTI equality, such as supporting Section 28 – the rule that banned ‘gay propaganda’ in schools. She is also trying to lead Brexit that will severely impact LGBTI people.
‘Honestly thanks for the support but no thanks,’ Aquaria said.
‘Get your policies together and then feel comfortable enjoying our art. Mess.’
Some replied saying May was not being ‘messy’ in that moment and was just trying to raise awareness of the charity.
Aquaria said: ‘That’s a very worthy cause and I wish them the best! I appreciate that support but no need to tag us for the cool kid vote… it’s just the truth’
And she replied to another: ‘Whatever lol y’all enjoy brexit then I guess?????????????
‘Like soooooo many drag queens raise soooo much money for charities all the time we don’t need some conservative fool to pretend like an ally and then act opposite.’
