Killer Unicorn is the queer slasher movie with a unicorn-masked killer you didn’t know you needed.
The movie premieres this weekend at Bushwig, a festival of drag, music & love.
José D. Álvarez, director Drew Bolton and composer Tyler Stone are the minds behind the future cult classic.
They promised plenty of classic horror movie references and a ‘dark, horny’ score while being interviewed by Billboard.
The trio also provided a trailer.
Bolton described the movie: ‘A hot dude in a unicorn mask kills drag queens in Brooklyn. It’s where fantasy goes to die and where fantasy comes to kill.’
Álvarez, on the other hand, explained the movie is ‘equal parts scary, campy and queer.’
Apparently, the most fun scene to film was one where ‘a performer drowns in the killer’s piss.’
‘A man wearing a unicorn mask is killing off Brooklyn nightlife’
The films official plot on IMDB explains the main character is Danny, ‘your average Brooklyn party boy.’
He is attacked on a night out by a stranger and so is reluctant to go out again. He is ‘still going throughout the aftermath of that horrible incident.’
A year on though, his friends encourage him to finally come on another night out.
The plot continues: ‘His friends want Danny to face his fears and go back out into the world. Danny refuses, but when a new boy, PuppyPup, enters his life, Danny decides to give his social life and the Brooklyn nightlife scene a second chance.
‘It isn’t until his friends start to disappear and get killed in gruesome ways that Danny realizes that his life, and everyone else who helped him that night, are in danger.
‘A man wearing a unicorn mask is killing off Brooklyn nightlife, one queen at a time, and he won’t stop until he has his revenge.’
