In the short video he simply says: ‘I am gay. And I just wanted everyone to know.

‘Because I’ve made a promise to myself to live my truth every day. And sometimes that is a really hard thing to do when you have all these subconscious things you don’t even know about from childhood and society and just life.

‘I am sure most of you probably knew anyway.’

And he joked: ‘I also have a stye in my eye which really adds to the whole drama of the whole thing.’

Flash co-star Candice Patton replied: ‘You’re one of the good ones. Love you.’

And Brazilian actor and musician simply said: ‘So proud of you.’

His fans have also messaged their support.

Joe C Montes commented: ‘I can’t imagine the strength it took to post this. Thank you for sharing your truth!

‘I hope this video touches that person who feels alone in this world.’

And Rares Marcut said: ‘I’ve always had a crush on you. I’m really proud of you, Rick.’
