Popular skate brand Vans is releasing a line of Frida Kahlo-inspired shoes to celebrate the legacy of the Mexican painter.
Kahlo was openly bisexual, having love affairs with both men and women over the course of her life.
Last year, Vans released a collection of Van Gogh-inspired shoes, in collaboration with the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. Now, the company is celebrating Kahlo’s work. The Vans Vault Kahlo collection features their classic sneaker styles adorned with some of Kahlo’s paintings.
‘This fall, Vault by Vans introduces a truly unique collection of footwear honoring painter, Frida Kahlo,’ the Vans Vault website reads. ‘Known best for her self-portraits and works deeply inspired by the nature and indigenous culture of Mexico, the Vault by Vans x Frida Kahlo collection brings a carefully curated selection of Kahlo’s paintings to life on Vans classics.’
The shoes will be sold exclusively at select Vans Vault dealers.
