The Voice stars Jordan Gray and Vangelis perform at Digital Pride: The Festival

Jordan Gray and Vangelis, the LGBTI stars of this year’s series of The Voice, performed at Digital Pride: The Festival this afternoon.

Live music also came courtesy of Eleni C, Vanity Von Glow, Terry Guy, Christopher Haul, London Gay Big Band and Martin Fitch, with more acts to follow.

If you can’t make it to London, you can catch the action via the below live stream.

Speaking backstage, Jordan told us: ‘Pride means different things to different people. As a trans woman, I’m not here to represent all trans people. I just want to be a positive example of a human being doing their job. LGBT is as it should be. There’s chat about removing the T, but why would you want to dismantle an organization that promotes so much love?’

She added: ‘The next big step for queer rights is getting a grasp on social media [and the homophobia therein], it’s running away with itself. It’s so much easier now to propagate myths.

‘It’s easy to promote something good but twice as easy to promote something ridiculous. It should be about staying ahead of the trends so we can steer people in the right direction.’

Vangelis added: ‘Pride means being yourself and embracing being different. The closest issue to my heart concerning LGBTI issues at the moment is this issue about being able to use the toilet. If someone identifies as a girl or a woman, they should be able to use the ladies bathroom [and vice versa]. I would like to see more LGB people get more behind T issues.’
