A new video clip from Chris Crocker has gone viral. The gay vlogger shot to fame in 2007 when he openly weeped into camera and begged the media to ‘leave Britney alone!’

Since then he has carved out a career as an internet celebrity and singer. A video that he posted to his Facebook page yesterday has already been viewed 1.7million times.

In the 14-second clip, he satirically reprises his ‘Leave Britney Alone’ imploring those who have criticized Starbucks to leave the coffee giant alone. Why?

‘It’s a coffee company! Not a church!’

Starbucks produces its ‘red cup’ selection of festive drinks each winter. However, this year, it removed symbols of the season, such as reindeer and tree ornaments, and opted for a simple red cup design.

Starbucks Vice President Jeffrey Fields said at the launch of this year’s cups: ‘In the past, we have told stories with our holiday cups designs. This year we wanted to usher in the holidays with a purity of design that welcomes all of our stories.’

Some Christian commentators have since accused the company of trying to destroy Christmas and hating Jesus. Others to weigh in on the controversy include Donald Trump, who said at a campaign rally in Illinois Monday, ‘Maybe we should boycott Starbucks?

Starbucks has upset those on the Christian right before when its CEO voiced his support for same-sex marriage in 2013.

Last week it was announced all 2,000 staff at Starbucks stores in Seattle were receiving training on how to respond to hate crimes against LGBT people and to offer the victims of such crimes safe haven until police arrive to deal with incidents.
