If you thought Troye Sivan’s latest video pushed the queer envelope, think again. Fischerspooner’s latest is likely to make Mr Sivan blush.
The New York duo burst on to the music scene back in the early 00s as leaders of the short-lived electroclash scene.
They went into a prolonged hiatus after their third album, Entertainment, in 2009. However, last summer they dropped their new single, Have Fun Tonight, as a taster of their fourth studio album.
That album, Sir, has been produced by REM’s Michael Stipe, and will be released next month.
‘Sexual, expressive and fearless’
Today, a video for new track, Top Brazil, hit YouTube – and it’s the band’s queerest offering yet.
Directed by Tom CJ Brown, gay singer Casey Spooner finds himself semi-naked and cavorting in a mass of similarly stripped down guys.
Whether licked by laser beams or dripping in a sauna cabin, Spooner explains more about the film to i-D.
‘The video celebrates a pop aesthetic typically reserved for the female archetype. It liberates the male form to be sexual, expressive and fearless.’
Watch it below – but be aware, it’s probably not safe for work (NSFW).
