Cyclist Daniel Provencio wasn’t trying to cause trouble, he was just trying to get some action.

The 59-year-old gay man was tackled to the ground on Thursday (9 June) by New York City police officers after riding his bike through an area on 50th Street barricaded for President Barack Obama’s motorcade.

Provencio perhaps didn’t hear shouts to stop because he was listening to Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe on the way to a date with a guy he had connected with online the night before.

He says that since he was detained by police, he didn’t get to connect with the guy who he called after he was released.

‘Manhattan men are huge on punctuality,’ he tells TMZ.com.

Dramatic YouTube video of the police tackle shows that it takes place just before Obama’s motorcade passes through.
