Munroe Bergdorf, a transgender model, was recently fired by L’Oréal Paris UK due to a blog post she wrote challenging white supremacy. After this, she appeared on Good Morning Britain and got into a heated debate with Piers Morgan.
‘Honestly I don’t have energy to talk about the racial violence of white people any more. Yes ALL white people,’ the model wrote on Facebook
While the original post isn’t viewable on her page anymore, Bergdorf addressed the fallout from it in another post.
‘I don’t understand how saying “all white people” are racially violent helps anyone in the race debate, that’s my point,’ Morgan tells Bergdorf on Good Morning Britain.
Bergdorf retorts, questioning why school children aren’t taught about the violence of slavery and colonialism, and instead have a completely white-washed syllabus.
‘Kids are not taught about black history the same way they’re taught about white history,’ she said.
Morgan then began arguing with her, asking why she didn’t say that in the blog post. Bergdorf, however, did address these nuances. She went on to explain how the tabloids took her words out of context to sensationalize the story.
‘Blaming the Daily Mail for what you said is ridiculous,’ Morgan said in response.
Piers Morgan has been known to clash with LGBTI people over the years, both on television and on the internet.
