While queer representation in media is still disproportionate to the rest, there are some promising movies coming out this year.
Now, we have another one and it looks utterly charming and heartfelt.
Titled Princess Cyd, the film comes from writer-director Stephen Cone and tells the story of 16-year-old titular Cyd (Jessie Pinnick).
Spending the summer with her novelist aunt (Rebecca Spence), Cyd explores her own identity and sex as she gets to know both her aunt and falling for a local androgynous barista (Malic White).
The trailer will immediately put a smile on your face, as Pinnick’s warmth comes across effortlessly. There are too many sad stories about queer characters. Watching a trailer for what I hopefully assume is a happier film about queer women is a treat.
I can’t wait for this story. The movie comes out in the US at the end of the year.
