Gay Youth Homeless UK LGBTI

It’s estimated that 4,800 young LGBTI people are homeless or living in hostile environments.

The Purple Door Project is a housing service for homeless LGBTI individuals, run by the UK-based Albert Kennedy Trust. In this video, Jovanie, who has been helped by the Trust, shares his traumatic story.

‘I considered taking my life at 12 years old,’ Jovanie explains.

‘I got beaten with an iron, I got punched up and actually got kicked out [of his family home]’

Jovanie’s story is one of many that we will be sharing in the run up to Digital Pride, in association with the Albert Kennedy Trust.
