George Michael appeared with James Corden in first-ever Carpool Karaoke.

George Michael has a showbiz first that most people probably don’t realize but is really pretty cool.

Back in 2011, the late singer who died on Christmas Day was the first star to join James Corden for a session of Carpool Karaoke.

The bit, now a regular feature of Corden’s The Late Late Show on CBS, was for first done for the charity group Comic Relief.

Corden picks up Michael and after the singer initially says ‘But you said we were going to pick up my photos’ with a sigh, the duo belt out Freedom and I’m Your Man.

Little did anyone know that Corden would get his own US talk show four years later and that Carpool Karaoke would become a television and YouTube phenomenon.

Among the celebrities who have been in Corden’s passenger seat to sing their hits are Adele, Madonna, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey, Rod Stewart, Jennifer Lopez, Justin Bieber, Jennifer Hudson, Britney Spears, Stevie Wonder, Gwen Stefani and Chris Martin.

Corden even managed to convince First Lady Michelle Obama to go along for a ride. She doesn’t have any hit songs of her own, obviously, so they picked some of her favorites instead.
