What was Rob Lowe doing working next door to a dildo factory?

Between his roles on The West Wing, Brothers & Sisters and Parks and Recreation, Rob Lowe has had a lot of success in series television.

But he’s had a few big flops too.

There was the short-lived Dr. Vegas which he chose to do instead of taking the role of McDreamy on Grey’s Anatomy and there was The Lyon’s Den, the legal thriller that was his highly-anticipated follow-up to The West Wing.

Appearing this week on Conan O’Brien’s late-night show, Lowe shared something about the show’s 13-episode run: it was filmed in a building located right next door to a business in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley that made sex toys.

‘I should have known nobody had any faith in the show when instead of letting us shoot it on the studio lot, they made us shoot in a warehouse located next to a dildo factory,’ Lowe recalls.

As if that weren’t bad enough, Lowe said he came to work one day to see that the hills in the area were on fire.

‘The were evacuating – the dildo people were running for the hills!’ Lowe said.

But the cast and crew of The Lyon’s Den remained and kept working.

Lowe believes the dildo factory is still there and points out that it is a lot more successful than The Lyon’s Den which was canceled by NBC after just 13 episodes.
