Why Anderson Cooper’s mom Gloria Vanderbilt is crazy about Andy Cohen

Andy Cohen interviewed Gloria Vanderbilt and her son Anderson Cooper on Watch What Happens Live.

She didn’t get Andy Cohen for a son-in-law so Gloria Vanderbilt will take him for a brother.

The famous heiress and mother of CNN anchor Anderson Cooper writes glowingly of her son’s BFF in a bonus chapter in the new paperback edition of the book The Rainbow Comes and Goes.

In the chapter, Vanderbilt writes about some of the interviews she did for the book she co-wrote with Cooper when it was first released last year.

Of ‘the divine Andy Cohen’ Vanderbilt writes: ‘From the moment we met, he became the brother I never had. His enormous warmth and charm created an immediate connection with waves of love circling around us.’

Vanderbilt and Cooper did a joint interview on Cohen’s Bravo show Watch What Happens Live that the 92 year old quite enjoyed.

‘I didn’t want the interview to end,’ she writes. ‘Thinking of the song from My Fair Lady. I could have danced all night, I could have danced all night and still have begged for more.’

Vanderbilt also had kind words for Kelly Ripa, another of her son’s close friends who also happens to have her own television show.

She refers to Ripa as ‘my fantasy daughter.’

Cohen points out this means, in the Vanderbilt fantasy world at least, that he is Ripa’s uncle.

Cohen and Cooper were originally set up on a blind date but Cooper immediately sensed they would be better off as friends.
