A performance at Wigstock 2018

After 17 years, Wigstock finally made its return. The annual event, started by drag veteran Lady Bunny in the 1980s, ended in 2001. That it, until this year.

Lady Bunny, along with Neil Patrick Harris, revived the Wigstock festival. It took place on Saturday (1 September) at Pier 17 in Manhattan.

« Sometime around 1984, a group of inebriated drag queens left the Pyramid Club in the East Village in Manhattan and wound up at Tompkins Square Park, where a spontaneous performance before a bunch of homeless people turned into a festival called Wigstock. Now Wigstock is coming back to life this Labor Day weekend, on Sept. 1 at the newly rebranded Pier 17 at the South Street Seaport. » Credit @nytimes @amandalepore This photo has not been retouched due to the beauty of the model … #wigstock2018 #wigstock#yallersstreet#sweet_street_beat #myspc#streets_storytelling #streetphotography#portrait#portraiture#makeportrait postthepeople#justgoshoot#artsofvisuals #quietthechaos#dragqueenmakeup #photoobserve#faceobsessed#sonya7iii #photojournalism #photojournalist#people#
