Pop star Will Young is not impressed with Jeremy Clarkson and his latest homophobic comments.

The TV star made the statements on a new episode of Amazon Prime show The Grand Tour.

In a special two-part episode on Columbia, Clarkson jokes to cohost Richard Hammond a 4×4 Jeep Wrangler a ‘gay’ vehicle and and ‘LGB-Jeep.’

He also makes fun of the LGBTI acronym, saying: ‘What is it? Lesbian, bacon, transgender…?’

After Clarkson rides the car, Hammond jokes: ‘You should have gone the whole hog… maybe some nice chaps, suede but ventilated at the back.

‘And that [pink] shirt, you’ve picked up that colour – have you been getting advice?”

As It’s Raining Men plays on the Jeep’s stereo, Hammond furthermore says: ‘Think of it as advertising.’

‘It’s repulsive and how DARE you do it’

Responding to Clarkson’s comments, Young wrote on Twitter: ‘1. I love cars always have always will. 2. I loved going on top gear 3. Excited about watching new Top gear and I’m afraid 3 heterosexual men SO uncomfortable with their sexuality that they reference in some lame way a Wrangler Jeep being a Gay mans car.

‘Gay men. I DON’T drive a Wrangler Jeep.’

He went on to say: ‘I DON’T wear pink shirts . I DON’T wear arseless chaps.’

‘You can be honest and funny without this ridiculous “lad” ooh being gay and let’s laugh about it mentality.

‘It’s repulsive and how DARE you do it and put it out [Amazon Prime].’

Jeremy Clarkson and Amazon have been approached by Gay Star News for comment.

Human rights activist Peter Tatchell also told Gay Star News: ‘Jeremy Clarkson seems to have an unhealthy obsession with gay life. I wonder how and why? Pandering to gay stereotypes and making fun of gay men is a feeble throwback to the bigoted 1970s.

‘Clarkson, the director and Amazon Prime would never dare mock the black or Jewish communities in this way. Why the double standards? They are really scraping the bottom of the barrel. If this is the best they can do, it suggests a serious lack of comedy talent.’

‘They were called ladyboys’

Clarkson has a history of making homophobic and transphobic comments.

In 2016, he wrote in a comment piece for The Sunday Times: ‘As far as I was concerned, men who want to be women were only really to be found on the internet or in the seedier bits of Bangkok.’

He furthermore added: ‘They were called ladyboys, and in my mind, they were nothing more than the punchline in a stag night anecdote.’

Hammond meanwhile caused backlash in 2016 by saying eating ice cream was ‘gay’; Clarkson seemingly references the episodes by eating ice cream in the car in the episode in question.
