Wisconsin candidate warns marriage equality will lead to incest

A candidate from the US midwestern state Wisconsin cautions the removal of same-sex marriage bans leads to incest.

Karen Mueller is a Republican hoping to challenge incumbent Ron King, a Democrat, for Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District.

Earlier this week, at a forum for the GOP candidates, Mueller criticized US District Court Judge Barbara Crabb’s ruling against the state’s same-sex marriage ban.

According to Think Progress, Muller thinks allowing marriage rights for LGBTI families will lead to incest.

‘We’ve got, for instance, two sisters, and these two sisters want to get married,’  she said. ‘They love each other. They are committed to each other. They want to spend the rest of their life together.’

She added the judge’s decision will be overturned because blocking gay couples from marriage isn’t discrimination.

‘They can get married. They just can’t get married to each other,’  Mueller said.

As added by Think Progress, the candidate is certain conservative Christians are under attack.

‘There is no constitutional right to not be offended,’ she writes on her Facebook campaign page. ‘How about some tolerance from the left towards conservative/Christian expression?’
