Openly gay WWE wresting superstar Darren Young has joined with a host of wresting stars from his league to pose for the NOH8 campaign aimed at wiping out homophobia.
Young, who’s real name is Fred Rosser, was joined by WWE world heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan and the cast of E!’s Total Divas among others including Titus O’Neil, Tyson Kidd, Jack Swagger and Xavier Woods
‘I am so honored to be a part of the WWE NOH8 campaign, Young said in a statement about his participation in the campaign.
‘The most important thing is to be able to live your life the way you want to, truthfully. NOH8 makes that possible.’
Young was joined in supporting the campaign by WWE league senior management.
"Our mission at WWE is to put smiles on people’s faces and we do that, in part, by participating in initiatives that help fight bullying of all kinds,’ WWE chief brand officer Stephanie McMahon said.
‘We are proud to support the LBGT community by taking part in the WWE NOH8 campaign.’
Young became the first wrestler in the WWE league to come out as gay in August last year.
Since then he has worn NOH8 branded clothing several times in the ring.
‘I love wearing my NOH8 hoodie everywhere I go and I love wearing it to the ring, because it sends a positive message to everyone to show tolerance and acceptance for the LGBT community,’ Young said.
The NOH8 Campaign is a photographic silent protest campaign created five years ago by celebrity photographer Adam Bouska and his partner Jeff Parshley in response to the passage of the Proposition 8 ban on same-sex marriage in California.
Since then over 35,000 photos have been taken as part of the campaign.
The WWE/NOH8 partnership comes just days after former WWF and WWE wrestler ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin went public with his support for same-sex couples being allowed to marry.
