Years & Years will be Kings at this year’s Brighton Pride with an exclusive show, organizers have revealed.
The band, fronted by the openly gay Olly Alexander, will take to the stage in Preston Park on Saturday 5 August 2017.
It will be their only UK Pride appearance this year.
Since scoring a number one single with King last year, Years & Years have become one of the UK’s biggest pop exports.
What’s more, the band’s debut album Communion has sold over 1 million copies worldwide.
Dulcie Weaver from Brighton Pride, said: ‘Through their enchanting electronica and timeless song writing Years & Years deliver life-affirming pop that stands as a beacon in a world where the darkness of inequality can often overwhelm so many.
‘Brighton Pride put community and campaigning at the heart of everything we do, and we cannot think of an artist that better embodies our Summer Of Love than Years & Years.’
This year’s festival is named Summer of Love, and the party covers the whole August Bank Holiday weekend. Some 300,000 party-goers attended last year.
Furthermore, the Pet Shop Boys, pictured above, have already been named headliners for this year’s event.
Other huge names are to be announced in the coming months.
Outspoken Olly has made headlines with his unapologetic approach to sexuality since rising to fame.
In recent months he’s talked openly about open relationships, fooling around with straight guys and LGBTI sex education in schools.
