Zachary Quinto is rethinking parenthood as he approaches 40.
The openly gay star of Heroes, American Horror Story and the Star Trek movies says: ‘I’m going to get in so much trouble for saying this, but I’ve always really wanted to have a kid but now all of my friends have kids and I’ll come in from a trip or hang out with my friends and their kids.
‘I’m thrilled to hang out with them, but by the time they’re ready to go home I’m so ready for them to go home. I’m kind of like, "I need to re-evaluate this. I don’t know."’
The 37-year-old actor made the admission to The Backlot while discussing his new documentary series The Chair.
Quinto says that when it comes to the question of kids, he feels like taking it one day at a time.
‘I’m open to any of it, but I’m not locked into any of it either. I feel like it will all unfold as it’s meant to. The balance is delicate.’
As far as approaching 40, he says: ‘I’m not worried about it. I just turned 37. I’m grateful for the experience of age. I try to be really connected to this journey of life that we’re all on and, obviously, the older we get the clearer it becomes that it doesn’t last forever.’
