Zoe Saldana refuses to boycott Dolce and Gabbana: ‘It’s stupid’

Elton John, Ellen DeGeneres and Ricky Martin are all boycotting Dolce and Gabbana after the designers said they only believe in the ‘traditional family’ and children born of IVF and gay parents are ‘synthetic’.

But Zoe Saldana, who made her name in films like Star Trek, Avatar and Guardians of the Galaxy, will not be joining that list.

‘That would be the stupidest thing, if it affected my fashion choice,’ Saldana told E! News.

‘People are allowed to their own opinion. However, I wouldn’t have chosen to be so public about something that’s such a personal thing.

‘Obviously it’s caused some sensitivity, but then again, if you continue to follow the news, you see they all kinda hugged it out, so why are we making a big deal about it?’

This is in stark contrast to some celebrities.

‘How dare you refer to my beautiful children as "synthetic",’ John said.

‘And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF – a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children.

‘Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again.’

DeGeneres blasted Dolce and Gabbana as ‘ignorant’ and said she will never wear their clothes ‘ever, ever again’.

The fashion duo attempted to fight back with their own campaigns, ‘Je Suis D&G’ – referencing ‘Je Suis Charlie’ after the Paris attacks that killed 11 people, and ‘Boycott Elton John’.

And last week, they attempted to clear up the furore around their comments.

‘We love gay couples, we love gay adoption, we love everything,’ Gabbana said.
